Foundation Board Sets Goals for 2011-2012 Academic Year
At its annual meeting in April 2011, the Foundation Board received a report from its Secretary-Treasurer indicating that the dues-donation program was a success in 2010, with sufficiant funding to pay four Society Travel Grants at the Naval Academy Symposium in September..
The Board noted with pleasure that the Society’s meeting rotation program has been well received. The Society aim to maintain its meeting rotation schedule thus: Naval Academy 2011–>American Association for the History of Medicine 2012–>Association of Military Surgeons of the United States 2013–>repeat.
It set the following goals for the upcoming academic year: 1) work for publication of the papers given at each Annual Meeting and Papers Session, and 2) seek grants to fund a historical plaque program n conjunction with the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Office of the Historian.
The Board accepted with regret the resignation of RADM Moore, and expressed its sincere appreciation for Admiral Moore’s contributions to establishing the Foundation.
